Please pray for our Confirmandi. Archbishop Dunn will soon celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with our youth. These young people have been waiting for this day since the start of the pandemic. Let us pray that on their Confirmation Day, they will come together to complete the sacraments of initiation.

Discipleship Quads
Not just another small group program or Bible study ...
A Discipleship Quad is a group of four people who journey together as disciples through weekly gatherings of fellowship, ongoing conversion, and learning. This 44 week path of accompaniment fosters growth through prayer, accountability, and authentic relationships in a proven format. Out of a passion to combat these obstacles and help people to have the relationship with Christ they desire, Franciscan University of Steubenville has created the Discipleship Quad.
We are seeking people to start up a Discipleship Quad. All the materials will be provided. Open to all members of Corpus Christi. Materials will be sent to your community church.
Jennifer Moore, our Director of Family Life and Youth, is excited to bring Empowered with the Sacraments to all the children of Corpus Christi Parish!!
Registration is open now!
Empowered by the Sacraments is for children in Grade 3. Children will prepare together to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Children from across the parish will meet in a series of interactive Zoom sessions as they grow in faith together. Special in-person sessions will take place throughout the year and children will receive their Sacraments in their own church communities.
The Empower Program for all children will return later this year as Covid restrictions ease. New dates for the Sacraments will be announced.

Confirmation
2021 - 2022
The Confirmation program offers teens (born in 2006 & earlier), an opportunity to explore their faith in real and relevant ways as they encounter the working of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Teens from across the parish will be introduced to a variety of theme topics in a monthly Zoom meeting. Each week teens will meet in small groups, in their own faith communities, to explore and discuss these topics. Special events throughout the year will bring all teens together as they journey together.
Did you know that ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex’ is considered ‘king of the dinosaurs’? God created all things and made Jesus the King of kings!
Families and Youth are invited to participate in building a pumpkin display as our Parish’s contribution to the Kentville Pumpkin People Festival! Each family or group will create one figure: Jesus, T-Rex, or another dinosaur and these will be displayed on the lawn at Corpus Christi Saint Joseph Kentville. Materials will be supplied.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul
The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul has a Conference at Corpus Christi St. Francis (Wolfville). SSVP offers emergency aid to those in our area in need of: food, medical, rent, utilities, etc.
SSVP offers hands on contact and support – meeting those in need in their homes. The group generally meets monthly through the fall, winter and spring (some adjustments have been necessary due to COVID) and meetings are open to anyone interested in learning more. The SSVP can always use active support from volunteers, but financial and prayer support is also critical to its success. “Thank you”, for your consideration and for those who have offered continued support!

is looking for someone to take over the cemetery. The new volunteer will be guided and assisted as he or she takes over the role.
If you are interested please call Pete at 902 841- 0459 or Jerry at 902 837-4934. The current volunteer is now 80 years old and it is time for someone new to take on this job. It is not a hard job, but we do need someone to look after it.

Do You Know About the “Railway Children”?
The GOOD NEWS is.....the 32 girls we are supporting in India have survived the COVID pandemic OK so far! The success of this project over the past decade is one of the great triumphs of the people of this Parish.
Twelve years ago, with strong encouragement from Fr. Larry Pitcher, who was then on sabbatical in India, Fr. Emmanuel George [aka Fr. Abhi] and Sr. Manju, both members of Indian Roman Catholic Religious Orders, we began a new ministry in Veranasi, India (the Holy City on the Ganges): to provide good food, temporary shelter and schooling for lost or abandoned children found begging at the railroad stations. Fr. Abhi visited Nova Scotia, telling us of the new ministry to help the “Railway Children”.
Support grew with gusto, beginning with the folks at St. Lawrence & St. Francis, and then moving up and down the Valley. Since then, members of Corpus Christi Parish have been mainstays of support for that ministry. With additional help from supporters in the Diocese of Antigonish and on the South Shore, over $400,000 has been raised over these past 12 years. This has funded a large ‘Safe House’ for the children, plus food, clothing and schooling. Education is especially important for the girls, who face a very bleak future if they have no schooling. It is a wonderful project. And we have kindred spirits in both Belgium and Spain helping as well...a Railway Children triangle!
I would love to show you pictures of the beaming youngsters for whom we are now a lifeline....but as our bulletin appears on the web, we cannot since we never allow photos of the children onto the internet.
The children think we ‘walk on water’. Well, we don’t really, but we do work hard to ensure that they get good care. We need to raise roughly $30,000 per year to keep this ministry alive. Any help we get is appreciated! [And please note: EVERY SINGLE PENNY that we receive goes directly to the care of the children, with no fund raising administrative costs whatsover.]

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Last week, Archbishop Dunn released a Letter to the Faithful about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. In the letter it is noted that the parishes and associated ministries of the Archdiocese will not be observing September 30 as a holiday, i.e. a “day off”. Instead, all clergy, religious, and lay employees are asked to create and/or take part in opportunities for prayer, fasting, and repentance. To read the full letter please click here.
Archbishop Dunn will celebrate the 12:15pm daily Mass at the Cathedral that day and will lead a reflection on the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary. This Mass is open to all, keeping in mind COVID-19 protocols our current gathering limits. The liturgy will also be livestreamed. The Holy Father designated this year a Year of Saint Joseph to encourage the faithful to learn more about the spouse of the Blessed Mother and foster father of Jesus. Church Attendance Update
We are now in Phase 4 of the provincial government's reopening plan. In Phase 4 the maximum number of participants for faith gatherings increased but all other Covid protocols remain. Please continue to register, sanitize, wear masks and sit where assigned by the ushers and to remain seated until directed by an usher to leave. Do not come to Mass if you have any symptoms of Covid or if you are feeling unwell.
The next phase - Phase V - is expected to deploy on September 15 provided we, as a Province, have reached 75% of the population fully vaccinated.
On August 26, Archbishop Dunn issued a statement encouraging all to get vaccinated.
In-person Masses resumed the weekend of July 3 / 4. All the same Covid protocols still apply. Pre-registering for Mass makes it easier for everyone, so please follow your church community's procedure for registering for Mass. Knowing who you are is important. As followers of Christ, we know we are sons and daughters of Christ, individually. Yet we live our faith communally as part of a parish. What is the identity of your parish. In the last 18 months, the parishes of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth have not only lived a new reality in light of a global pandemic but ALSO as new parishes.
“Evangelization – proclaiming the good news of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – is the primary activity of the Church. Each new Parish must have a plan for evangelization with a commitment to a particular program of evangelization. Significant time, energy, and resources should be invested in reaching the various audiences of the new evangelization: those who have never heard the Word of God, those who have heard the Word of God but fallen away, and those who have heard the Word of God yet require ever deepening conversion”

Parishioners can donate books and sacramentals to the Library so they can be passed on to others. Mary Crooks, who leads this Ministry, tells the Bulletin, "Often, someone will come to me looking for a certain item, such as a Bible, and I will have it for them due to the generosity of others. Sometimes people bring religious items that belonged to their parents and they want me to find a good home for them. The Holy Spirit has a great way of matching a gift with the right person."If you have extra Bibles, Catholic books, rosaries, crucifixes, holy cards, statues, greeting cards, or religious items, please contact Mary Crooks at 902-825-6495 who will add them to our library or make them available to others.
