Jesus: the Way, the Truth, and the Life is an online study starting Wednesday, September 22, and ending November 24.
The group will meet on Zoom on Wednesdays from 7 PM to 8 PM to discuss the lessons.

The Fee is $30 and includes a workbook, a book about Jesus' life, a timeline chart of his life, and one year of access to the online videos. There are 10 thirty minute videos. The videos were shot in the Holy Land and Jeff Cavins and Marcelle D'ambrosio talk about Jesus as they visit the places in his life.

The Kings-Kikima Grannies began about 12 years ago to help grandmothers in Africa who are raising their grandchildren because their children have died from HIV/AIDS. They are grandmothers and grand-others from Kings County Nova Scotia who are connected with a group of 30 grandmothers in Kikima, Kenya who are raising their grandchildren and who need support.
Grab the family, hop in the car and head on out to the Church Fair at St. Monica in Middleton for some good old-fashioned family fun!! You'll get to visit one of the many wonderful churches that make up our Parish of Corpus Christi, enjoy some yummy food, try out some games, meet some new folks and support our service groups as they raise funds and contribute to our communities.
This earthquake has caused enormous damage. The civil protection agency’s toll on August 15 at 7:00 p.m. was 1,300 dead and more than 5,700 injured, and 13,600 houses destroyed with more than 30,250 families needing shelter. 800,000 people are directly affected. Haitians are also now preparing for the arrival of a tropical storm.

The Knights of Columbus Soup Kitchen at St. Monica has resumed with Free Take Out Meals on Wednesdays at 11:30 am.
Chalice is a Catholic international aid charity focused on child, family, and community development. They work closely with lay people, religious missionaries, and local communities to provide care for the many children and families caught in the dehumanizing grip of poverty. This month they are highlighting the radiance of their Asia region.

Deacon Patrick Salah

Deacon Patrick was born and raised in Halifax and grew up in Saint Benedict Parish. He studied at Saint Augustine Seminary in Toronto, and during his formation he served as part of the pastoral teams at Christ the King Parish in Dartmouth and Corpus Christi Parish in the Valley.
First Mass of Thanksgiving
On Sunday, August 22 at 2:30pm, the newly ordained Fr. Patrick will celebrate his first Mass of Thanksgiving at his home parish of Saint Benedict. Because of the pandemic restrictions, attendance is by invitation only. However, all are welcome to participate in this liturgy by livestream:
Let us pray in thanksgiving for Fr. Patrick Salah and his yes to serve the people of God! May the Holy Spirit continue to strengthen his gifts and grant him the graces he needs as he takes on his priestly ministry.
Tours of historic Holy Cross Cemetery
Beginning Monday, July 19, the Catholic Cemeteries of Halifax is pleased to once again offer free tours of historic Holy Cross Cemetery located at South Park St. in Halifax.
The tour will explore the gravesites of the various local and national historical figures who have been laid to rest in the cemetery, including a former premier of Nova Scotia as well as victims of the Halifax Explosion. The tour also includes the story of “chapel built in a day”, Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel, that is found at Holy Cross.
Tours will be offered Monday to Friday at 11:00am and 2:00pm. No tours will be offered on rainy days. The tours are free and donations are gratefully accepted.

Archbishop Dunn has invited the faithful to renew their devotion to Saint Joseph. The Holy Father designated this year a Year of Saint Joseph to encourage the faithful to learn more about the spouse of the Blessed Mother and foster father of Jesus. Pope joins ad campaign to encourage coronavirus vaccinations

Church Attendance Update
We are now in Phase 4 of the provincial government's reopening plan. In Phase 4 the maximum number of participants for faith gatherings increases but all other Covid protocols remain. Please continue to register, sanitize, wear masks and sit where assigned by the ushers and to remain seated until directed by an usher to leave. Do not come to Mass if you have any symptoms of Covid or if you are feeling unwell. The next phase - Living with Covid - is expected to deploy in September provided we, as a Province, meet the milestones set out in the plan.
In-person Masses resumed the weekend of July 3 / 4. All the same Covid protocols still apply. Pre-registering for Mass makes it easier for everyone, so please follow your church community's procedure for registering for Mass. Knowing who you are is important. As followers of Christ, we know we are sons and daughters of Christ, individually. Yet we live our faith communally as part of a parish. What is the identity of your parish. In the last 18 months, the parishes of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth have not only lived a new reality in light of a global pandemic but ALSO as new parishes.
“Evangelization – proclaiming the good news of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – is the primary activity of the Church. Each new Parish must have a plan for evangelization with a commitment to a particular program of evangelization. Significant time, energy, and resources should be invested in reaching the various audiences of the new evangelization: those who have never heard the Word of God, those who have heard the Word of God but fallen away, and those who have heard the Word of God yet require ever deepening conversion”

Parishioners can donate books and sacramentals to the Library so they can be passed on to others. Mary Crooks, who leads this Ministry, tells the Bulletin, "Often, someone will come to me looking for a certain item, such as a Bible, and I will have it for them due to the generosity of others. Sometimes people bring religious items that belonged to their parents and they want me to find a good home for them. The Holy Spirit has a great way of matching a gift with the right person."If you have extra Bibles, Catholic books, rosaries, crucifixes, holy cards, statues, greeting cards, or religious items, please contact Mary Crooks at 902-825-6495 who will add them to our library or make them available to others.
