Sea Sunday: July 11
The second Sunday in July, this year July 11, is know as Sea Sunday. This a day, organized by the international movement, Mission to Seamen, invites people across the globe celebrate the role seafarers play in our daily lives.
It is a time to thank them for the hardships they face, the sacrifices they have been forced to endure due, especially during the pandemic, and to pray for their safety. See some of the different ways that you can help seafarers here.
Heavenly Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, we the faithful of Corpus Christi Parish, ask that You bless and sanctify us as we work together to implement our Vision. We ask that You guide us as we strive to love bravely, to serve radically and to meet all whom we encounter with humility and compassion. Help us to unite joyfully and lovingly as followers of your Son, Jesus, to take His message with us wherever we go. We know that by Your grace, we can make this Vision a reality. We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

We are looking for volunteers for the kitchen, to help lead, to check kids in at camp, to keep things germ free (you know, Covid), to get things ready for the next day. There are so many jobs that need to be done to make a successful VBS. Can you help? If you can, let Jennifer Moore know.

Scholarship Recipient
Emilie Townsend
Congratulations to Emilie Townsend who is the recipient of the 2021 Education Award from St. Monica's Catholic Women's League. Emilie has also received the Youth Ambassador Award from the Kingston-Greenwood Mental Health Association for establishing the Safe Space for Youth program in Middleton.
Emilie serves as a lector and a willing volunteer at St. Monica's and has helped this year as a screener. On the foundation of her faith, Emilie will be commencing the Community Service Worker Diploma Program with special focus on helping those with addictions. In response to the grace of her Baptism and Confirmation, she seeks to be an instrument of healing and hope. May Emilie and all our youth walk in the light of Christ and the guidance of Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Corpus Christi St. Monica Middleton Library?
With our Churches re-opening, the Library at St. Monica will once again be available. Did you know that the library accepts donations of gently used Catholic books, CD's, Bibles, rosaries, statues and sacramentals?
Parishioners can donate books and sacramentals to the Library so they can be passed on to others. Mary Crooks, who leads this Ministry, tells the Bulletin, "Often, someone will come to me looking for a certain item, such as a Bible, and I will have it for them due to the generosity of others. Sometimes people bring religious items that belonged to their parents and they want me to find a good home for them. The Holy Spirit has a great way of matching a gift with the right person."
If you have extra Bibles, Catholic books, rosaries, crucifixes, holy cards, statues, greeting cards, or religious items, please contact Mary Crooks at 902-825-6495 who will add them to our library or make them available to others.

Ordination to the Priesthood:
Deacon Patrick Salah

On August 21, 2021 at 10:00am at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, Archbishop Brian Dunn will ordain Reverend Mr. Patrick Salah to the priesthood. Deacon Patrick completed his studies at St. Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto this past May. He was born and raised in Halifax and grew up in Saint Benedict Parish in Clayton Park.
Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions in-person attendance at the ordination will be by invitation only. The faithful are encouraged to “join” the celebration by livestream. The link to the livestream broadcast will be on diocesan website, www.halifaxyarmouth.org, closer to the ordination in August.
Mark your calendar and please keep Deacon Patrick in your prayers as he continues to give his “yes” to the Lord and prepares to be ordained a priest.

We are pleased this year to be able once again hold two of our annual Masses for the Faithful Departed at two of our three Catholic cemeteries in August.

Due to the current gathering limitations these outdoor Masses will have limited attendance. Attendees are asked to please bring their own chair. These Masses will also be available via livestream. The links for each Mass will be made available closer to their August dates.
In the event of rain, the masses will be at Saint Agnes Church - August 14 and Saint John Vianney - August 19.
Listen and Learn: Walking with the Mi'kmaq
When French missionaries first came to what would become Nova Scotia, they sought to share the faith and find friendship with the Mi’kmaq they encountered in this new land. The Church’s history and interaction with the Mi’kmaq people in Nova Scotia has had some good moments and some very bad moments. Today, Archbishop Dunn seeks to help us all work to truly listen to and learn from Indigenous communities.
Plans for Listening Circles, educational opportunities for clergy and the faithful, and shared moments of prayer and worship such as the annual Treaty Day Mass are some of the small ways that the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth is creating spaces for sharing, storytelling, and faith. May we find more opportunities to better know and learn the stories and culture of our Mi’kmaq brothers and sisters.
Let us walk together towards a future that seeks healing, reconciliation, and peace.

The Holy Father designated this year a Year of Saint Joseph to encourage the faithful to learn more about the spouse of the Blessed Mother and foster father of Jesus. Church Reopening Update
In-person Masses resumed the weekend of July 3 / 4. All the same Covid protocols still apply. Pre-registering for Mass makes it easier for everyone, so please follow your church community's procedure for registering for Mass.
Knowing who you are is important. As followers of Christ, we know we are sons and daughters of Christ, individually. Yet we live our faith communally as part of a parish. What is the identity of your parish. In the last 18 months, the parishes of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth have not only lived a new reality in light of a global pandemic but ALSO as new parishes.
“Evangelization – proclaiming the good news of the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ – is the primary activity of the Church. Each new Parish must have a plan for evangelization with a commitment to a particular program of evangelization. Significant time, energy, and resources should be invested in reaching the various audiences of the new evangelization: those who have never heard the Word of God, those who have heard the Word of God but fallen away, and those who have heard the Word of God yet require ever deepening conversion”
